The Spirit Guide

From Dismal to Blissful: Getting unstuck and connecting with yourself again

March 20, 2014 by Reverend Katherine Ganev Soto

We can easily access intuitive guidance, certainty, ancient wisdom, and powerful intelligence, from within our own beings that can change our lives from dismal to blissful.

Many people come to me with concerns about being stuck, not knowing where they want to go, what they want to do, or even who they are. And how did they come to be here, in this dreary muck of uncertainty and helplessness?

There is a deep sense of sadness and disconnection from truth, power, and beauty. And it can be very challenging to figure out how to get unstuck or how to connect fully with true self. What does that feel like and look like? We’ve been in this state for so long, it may not even occur to some that there is a disconnection at all.

I find that many who come to me genuinely and profoundly want to connect with themselves more deeply and want to feel a sense of purpose, fulfillment and success in this life that they are currently wearily walking. I often hear the words “This is just life” or “I’m just getting old” or “maybe this is just part of who I am and I should accept it.” Many feel like they don’t know who they are or what feelings, thoughts, and beliefs are truly theirs.

While life has its ups and downs, places to get stuck and unstuck, changing bodies and minds due to age and challenges along the way, it has the signature, the DNA, the full potential for a thriving existence at ANY age. We don’t have to be stuck in a maze of confusion or disconnected from our passions and desires, trudging through life doing something just for the sake of doing it, not fully LIVING and therefore not thriving.

We can easily access intuitive guidance, certainty, ancient wisdom, and powerful intelligence, from within our own beings that can change our lives from dismal to blissful.  There are steps we can take to reconnect and revive our frequency to optimal health and wellness for our unique existence. It may take time, small steps and layers to uncover our juicy greatness, but it is absolutely possible.

Come with me on a mini journey of exploration into your truth (don’t worry about how to do things, just intend it and allow your intuition to guide you):

∞     Set the intention to allow yourself to explore in whatever way will support your being based on what you would like to experience

∞     Wherever you are in this moment, stop and take a few deep breaths. Notice your breathing. Do your shoulders raise, does your belly expand, does your back hurt. Just notice.

∞     Look up and around at whatever is around you and allow your eyes to shift into spirit-truth eyes, relaxing your body as if in a slight meditative/trance-like state. Really look and really see what is around you. Allow all of your senses to soak in the universal beadlets of life experience and just be with this for a minute.

∞     Identify or jot down those things that stood out or resonated with you. Did anything reach you at a soul level? Write it down.

∞     Imagine for a moment a younger you. Allow whatever age you see to come forth and then connect with this part of yourself. What are you doing? How do you feel? What do you sound like? What are you wearing? Where are you? Just notice and be with this part of yourself, noticing how you feel in this state of observation.

∞     Ask this part of yourself what it would like, what it needs, and how it can help you step into, and connect with, your truth, highest potential and greatest possibilities. And just listen. It may come to you as an image, words, story/scene or a sense of knowing. However it comes, embrace it and allow it to sink into your cells as wisdom you can access at any time.

∞     If it feels safe, connect with this part of yourself in your heart center, sinking deep into this space and allowing your highest spirit to hold you and this younger you in a loving embrace. Allow your bodies (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, soul essence) to experience whatever is coming up. Be here for as long as needed.

∞     When you feel complete, give gratitude to yourself, your younger self, your highest spirit, and the wisdom, healing and guidance that came through.

We’ve spent many years getting ourselves into our current state. Coming back into our truth can take time. Give yourself the time and patience to explore your truth. Here are some resources to help you begin to connect more deeply with yourself:

A Reflection of Love

February 7, 2014 by Reverend Katherine Ganev Soto

A moment to reflect to me the love I cannot see within myself, the love that I don’t believe is real, the magic I believe is only in a faerie tale.

———————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

There I was opening my heart completely, in awe at this serendipitous connection that was really out of this world, totally absorbed in a magical world of bliss knowing that if I died tomorrow, I would be totally happy with my life. But fearing in my mind that this wasn’t real, this couldn’t be sustained, being too fantastical and somehow make believe. Yet I could feel the immense joy and bliss running through my veins and the deep connection of this powerful relation, looking into the eyes of a total stranger who I’ve known for many lifetimes and missed dearly; with clear memories and emotions that brought tears to my eyes and joy to my heart, not wanting to let this go, please don’t go.

And I stayed in this state, of what may be considered an unhealthy high, for a few days, hoping and praying it was real but deep within knowing it wasn’t. I came crashing down with the realization that even though the connection was completely real in that moment; that is exactly what it was. A moment to reflect to me the love I cannot see within myself, the love that I don’t believe is real, the magic I believe is only in a faerie tale. And what a reflection of love it was, being brought to my knees and humbled, taking this leap of faith like the fool and all the while trying to be strong and present in my own spiritual awareness to not close down this partially open heart of mine.

You see, part of my intention for this year was to receive more of the following: sharing love, opening my heart, truth, forgiving, remembering who I am, connecting deeply with myself, receiving love, experiencing life fully, embracing relationships…. And with this intention, the universe clearly obliged, bringing me this deep and powerful connection with my heart wide open, allowing me to smile ear to ear and then fall to the floor in tears, not realizing that the outward reflection of pain and suffering, deep love and compassion, understanding and joy, bitter frustration and helplessness, was all the reflection of what I couldn’t see in me and where I couldn’t love myself.

Relationships are powerful healers and reflections of love. They teach us, bring us joy, comfort us, and help us grow in ways we could not design with our simple minds. I realize, while still struggling in this tender heart space, that the anger, pain, joy, and frustrations that I think I feel for another are really what I feel for myself and if I choose, I can look deep within that wound and hold her hand, sing her a song, play with her, give her the nourishment she deserves and take her on a magical tour of her inner fantastical world so that she can share it with others, keeping her heart open, without expectation of something in return, without agenda.

It may be some time before I find that enlightenment fully, but for now I sit in awareness exactly where I am, giving myself permission to be in whatever state is necessary for present time.

Lessons Learned
1. Be careful what you wish for, but don’t stop wishing or aiming for your dreams
2. Be open to receive healing & give yourself permission to be exactly where you are
3. Be honest and authentic with how you feel and what you are experiencing
4. Be cautious of other peoples relationship advice – trust your inner wisdom
5. Be observant with what you are giving, receiving, and processing
6. Find amusement in the design of your own co-creations
7. Be gentle with yourself: smile, laugh, love.

Reflections Poem:

I reflect my energy
Upon the stormy seas
Within the galaxies
Within the you ,that’s me

Within the me, that’s you
When I’m happy or I’m blue
When my eyes can’t see the truth
When my heart breathes love for two

I reflect all that I am
external and within
and I access true wisdom
when I center and listen

I hear the beat of ki
as I am everything I see
and I reflect my energy
within the you, that’s me

Many Blessings on your path,

Change your mind – Believe it or not

November 28, 2011 by Reverend Katherine Ganev Soto

We change our minds all the time. We change our minds when we order food, when we decide what we want to wear for the day or what we want to do for the day. We often say, “you know what, I change my mind…..” We don’t think twice about the change, we just change our mind and that’s that. We change our minds about how we feel about certain things or people or places. Generally based on how much information we have but also based on our interactions or on how others feel about it. Our minds can be influenced by what we and others think, feel, and believe, conscious or not.

So how does changing your mind relate to healing and wellness? We can change our minds about how we see, think, and feel about whatever is happening in our lives at whatever level – physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual. We can choose to see things from any angle and what we choose to think and feel will certainly have an impact on us as well as all others concerned, positive or negative.  These thoughts or feelings can help us in our healing or spiral us further into the depths of whatever dis-ease we are experiencing – it’s really our choice (oh joy!).

Our minds create a form of energy that sends signals to our entire system so that we can survive. Danger is a great example.  If there is danger, our thoughts and feelings create actions in our bodies. Our bodies respond appropriately for our survival. We don’t have to say or do anything, our bodies immediately respond. Our hearts start to beat faster, we begin to sweat, we breathe heavier, we feel vibrations throughout our bodies, and a billion other actions are taking place in the deepest of our cells. All of this is triggered by our thoughts and feelings to what we are experiencing. We don’t even have to be in a physically dangerous situation, we can simply think of it and our bodies respond (I can think of something sad and actually have tears well up – I know others have done this as well). This same process happens with any of our thoughts, dangerous or not. Our bodies (physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual) react based on our thoughts and beliefs.

There have been a number of studies done on this “phenomenon” (I quote this because I think it’s funny that some consider this a phenomenon – it’s simply how intelligent we are – we just don’t realize it). For example, if you simply think about exercising – sit down, close your eyes, and imagine yourself doing yoga, running, or lifting weights, really imagine this is happening – it will have an impact physically. Believe it or not. Your thoughts create your reality! Another great example is the famous placebo effect. How is it that a sugar pill can have healing effects when there is no actual “medicine” being ingested? Because they believed it.  Interesting.

I’ve been playing with changing my mind and my beliefs on a conscious level for many years. There were many times I found it very difficult to change my mind or beliefs about a situation.  “This person made me mad, I don’t want to forgive them or believe that they didn’t mean to do what they did. I don’t want  to have love for them or give my power over to them. I don’t believe that. I don’t like that. Why? Because I just don’t ok?”

I found that by not changing my mind about whatever situations came up for me, I was giving more and more of my power away because I couldn’t stop thinking about the situation and what so and so did and can you believe….  and why would they do that…. Even thoughts such as “well, I’m sure they had a good reason,” or “maybe they are just having a rough time…..” or “I probably deserved it, maybe it’s karma….” were pulling the very thing I was trying to repel into my space.

I was creating a thought pattern in my being that allowed me to hold on to this anger or sadness or frustration that I really didn’t want in my space. But I couldn’t figure out how to get rid of it. One of my biggest pitfalls was being conscious that I was conscious so I would go around in circles in that I wouldn’t allow myself to get angry because I didn’t want anger in my space and so I wouldn’t allow myself to process what was happening, I would simply try to ignore it and brush it off as one of those situations. But it was still in my space since I hadn’t really acknowledged it and it would show up again and again in another form. And there I was doing the same thing over and over, conscious yet unconscious of the patterns my thoughts were creating.

I got to the point where I was numb to feeling but with so much emotion. I had an abundance of energy, not sustainable, that wasn’t really mine, taking residence in my energetic space and it was exhausting me physically. I had to find a way to manage these situations that kept occurring. One day I thought, I’m going to change to my mind. Having read an abundance of books and having watched many movies and documentaries on the power of our thoughts and beliefs, I figured I’d give it a try.

Surprisingly, just the intention to change my mind set in motion the process for me to heal old wounds that kept being opened. While I’m not big on judging scars, I was getting tired of seeing them grow.  There was an excitement of this newly found plan – one of those “eeeeek” moments.  So here I had this wonderful intention to change my mind about how I respond to situations and more importantly, how I receive situations. Woohooo. Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock…… ok. How do I actually apply this “change my mind” business?

Hm, maybe I could experiment. And that’s just what I did. At each opportunity for healing at whatever level, I chose to look at each situation, find what about the situation was mine (or not mine) or an old wound that wanted to be healed. And I acknowledged my thoughts, feelings, and emotions and looked at my (or not my) beliefs around it. How am I giving my power away in this situation? What of this situation is mine (this can be hard – sometimes not so pretty) and what is not (without judgment or fear) and how can I acknowledge what is happening and allow my entire being to heal?

What I also did was let go of judgment with myself and others. Who am I to judge? I have no idea what others have been through in their past or what they are going through in the present. I know that they were brought into this world, as was I; with some hope of a bright future and that they are spirit in a human body having a human experience. What an honor and joy it is to be on this journey with them and learn and grow from not only my experiences but also from theirs.

So if you like, the next time you run into a situation that doesn’t sit so well with you, stop for a moment and ask yourself how you can change your mind about the situation. This doesn’t mean you give in to the situation or give yourself up or lay in waiting for someone to take advantage of you. It doesn’t mean that your thoughts are going to magically remove the situation. It just means you can look at the entire situation from a different perspective and decide how you want to receive (or not receive) and respond. Have fun with it, make it light and not so serious. If anything, you’re just spending a few more moments with yourself looking at something for what it is or what you see it as.

Exercise:

Close your eyes (after you read this of course) and imagine that you are sitting behind your eyes and between your ears in the center of your head.  Create a beautiful observation deck and sit in a comfy chair observing the world around you.

Imagine a cord going from the base of your spine down into the center of the earth (this is what is called a grounding cord and it can be a tree, a beam of light, a cord, a pole, whatever resonates with you). Imagine that grounding cord is as wide as your hips and allows anything that isn’t in resonance with your highest and greatest good to be released down the grounding cord and into the earth to be recycled.

Take any situation from the past or present. See this situation and observe what thoughts, feelings, and beliefs it brings up for you. This can be something physical (pain or illness), emotional (abuse), mental (challenging problem), or spiritual (trying to find you).  Imagine a beautiful large rose about a foot out in front of you and imagine the rose is a color that represents this situation. Observe the situation from this neutral place without judgments or fear. Put all of these feelings, thoughts, beliefs into the rose, including anyone that happens to pop into your head. Send them and everything else into the rose. Imagine that rose moving outside and blowing up, sending the energy fragments through the universe to be cleansed and recycled or returned to the rightful owner.

Now imagine a big gold bubble (like a soap bubble) out in front of you and imagine this situation and how you would like or would have liked to see it play out (for the highest and greatest good of all concerned of course). Imagine yourself receiving and responding in your true vibration and in the truth of who you are. Sprinkle some amusement, joy, love, peace, and anything else you want into this bubble. Give it a blessing from your divine spirit and send it off to the edge of the creative universe to be fulfilled, knowing it will come back to you in perfect time.

Imagine a big gold sun, ten times bigger than your home, sitting above your head and fill it with whatever qualities you would like for yourself (courage, love, peace, joy, intelligence, imagination, creativity, amusement, mindfulness, awareness, kindness, strength…….. ANYTHING you want), pulling in all of your source energy (just intend for this). When it’s full, pop it and have all that energy flow into your entire being, filling you up completely. When you are filled in, open your eyes and stretch.

Change your mind and your beliefs and your bodies will respond.

many blessings,

Healing

September 17, 2011 by Reverend Katherine Ganev Soto

Healing is about bringing our entire being into harmony for the highest and greatest good of ourselves and all concerned. Each moment brings new lessons, and if we choose, growth, learning and healing. Each of us is a healer and each of us heals in our own way. It doesn’t look the same for everyone. With much amusement, light, and joy, Spirit guides me down a path of possibilities allowing me to walk the path as I choose.

It is known that many want health and wellness. What does that mean? How is one person’s view of health and wellness viable for another? Does Health and Wellness equal Happiness? With so many environmental influences both negative and positive, impacting our spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing, it can be daunting to find the best approach to Health and Wellness for your being.

Spirit says Live the Native Way, come back to your natural roots as found in nature, in elemental form. Breathe and flow the way nature breathes and flows – in the present moment, moving in harmony with all that is presented. Harmony for one may be total peace and flow and for another may be just a simple awareness and acceptance of the moment as it is, with whatever comes up.

Being present and moving in harmony – easier said than done? Know that you will see it when you believe it. Believing it isn’t just saying it, it is allowing the root of your truth to vibrate through. Vibrate through the misrepresentation, through who you think or have been told you are, who you have been told you can or cannot be, to shine through who you truly are.  It’s never too late to revive your true vibration. And while it can take practice and patience, just setting the intention to have your true source shine through, will set the path in motion. And all you have to do is be present and allow the wisdom to rise up from your spirit. Release any judgments, any shame or guilt or self-doubt, anything that does not resonate with your highest and greatest good. Have amusement with yourself and others and let go of those tense moments, releasing them and opening up to awareness and acceptance.

Health and Wellness begins with you. Envision what it means to you and what you would like and why. Sit with it, do a visual exercise or write it down. Sing it, Dance it, allowing the movement to express what it means for you. If you find the root cause and intention behind your desires (what have you been intending lately?), it becomes clearer what may be creating your outcome and what requires attention and love. Look to your own inner knowing, inner wisdom, and supportive health practitioners, who have your highest and greatest good in mind, for the best path to take at this time in your life, given your current circumstances and desires.

As we heal ourselves, we help others heal. It is a natural reaction to desire health and wellness. A great resource to finding the right balance for your being is through education. Read books, take classes, or attend events on healing at the spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical levels and practice daily to find opportunities for growth. The best source of education is our inner wisdom and intuition. Our bodies, our spirits know what is best for our health and wellness. Learning is a natural process that we yearn for and soak in. It is a survival mechanism and can be used for greatness. How we use and share our knowledge has great impacts to our own wellbeing and the wellbeing of the rest of the world.

Let your spirit grow in health and wellness by taking the next step to bring about love and joy within all of your being. In order to see results, there must be actions. Actions should be taken at the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels to find the greatest healthy whole. The easiest first step is to simply set the intention for the health and wellness you want in your life given your circumstances. Be sure to set your intentions regularly and begin to take actions for the results you desire. Always consult your inner wisdom and a health practitioner of your choosing before introducting significant changes on any level.

Most importantly, laugh alot, have fun, and enjoy the process. The process is really what it is all about. It is always NOW, might as well enjoy it.

many blessings,
-Kathy
